Once we got the all clear, we continued on our trip until we got to a little settlement. At the camp, we saw a number of people, most of whom were blind folded. When I saw this, I began to wonder if we might have been kidnapped. Until then, It hadn’t crossed my mind.

What do you do when you’ve done all that you know to do, given all that you know to give and nothing seems to be happening? What do you do? What you do is to stand there and dig in deeper for more. In some instances, giving up would not be an option. You must believe enough in what you desire and not allow yourself to be mentally defeated. There is nothing greater than a mind made up - a mind that decides “enough is enough”.

A wave of panic washed over me as I discovered I had been cocooned all round. It had happened silently while I was lying peacefully on my face. The side glass had been raised to cover me all round as in a coffin. I have heard about panic attacks and always wondered what they meant. That day, I had my own panic attack.

Sometimes, you suddenly just need to fan yourself and you are the only one doing this in the room. Everyone else is okay but you are in this bubble of steam.

My son recently confirmed to me that a lot of his peers are choosing to co-habit rather than marry. The issue of money seems to play a huge role in their decisions. There is the question of who gets the house in the occasion of the marriage breaking down? He also mentioned that young people these days consider the option of signing a prenuptial agreement before saying “I do.”  Who does that!!!

As I was watching, I heard the leader speaking Hausa to the two truck drivers. After a few minutes, he ordered them to be released. I was the only one left. My fear was palpable. I was ordered out of the car, hands raised, gun pointing at me and then told to face down on the dirt.

The last thing I was expecting was for a family member to test positive to “Coro”. Unsure about what to do next, I called my friend Edith who is married to a doctor. She is our easiest extension to a doctor. “Hennang my husband says you need to book for a proper drive through NHS test so as to verify her status. You can do it online”.

There were just too many things wrong with him. To start with, he never felt comfortable playing with the other boys. He hated their horse playing and roughhousing, much preferring the girls. They were always so sweet and gentle. As a musically inclined child, he fitted right in with them singing and clapping along.
